Financial Oversight as a Guarantee of Stability… The Saudi Ambassador’s Visit to the Court of Accounts : A Message of Support for State Institutions
The visit of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Lebanese Court of Accounts was not merely a protocolary stop, but a moment of particular significance in both its timing and venue.
When diplomatic representation meets the highest authority of financial oversight, the discussion goes beyond formal courtesies to affirm a fundamental truth: integrity and good governance of public funds are the essential pillar and the only gateway to rebuilding the state and earning international trust.
The visit reflected the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s interest in strengthening relations based on transparency and institutional cooperation, and in supporting Lebanon’s path toward re-establishing the principles of good governance, at a critical stage that requires—more than ever—aware and responsible partnerships, as well as a supreme financial oversight body that ensures the proper use of invested funds in a manner that serves the public interest.
It was a visit that conveyed a calm yet clear message:
that building states is achieved not only through support, but through backing the institutions that safeguard public funds and preserve people’s trust in the state.
On the sidelines of the visit, attention was also drawn to the prominent standing recently achieved by the Court of Accounts. Ambassador Al-Bukhari extended his congratulations to Judge Badran and to the delegation of the Lebanese Court of Accounts on the occasion of its election to the Executive Council of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI). This achievement, decided during the organization’s meetings in the city of Jeddah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, affirms the Court’s active institutional presence at both the Arab and international levels, and reinforces its role as a supervisory body that enjoys confidence and recognition under the most challenging circumstances.
